Land Mark Cases

The Department represented the parents of Stephen Lawrence (Neville and Doreen Lawrence) in their claim for personal injuries against the Metropolitan Police Service following conclusions reached in the MacPherson Report (February 1999) that the investigation into Stephen's death was fraught with incompetence. The Department also successfully represented the family of Dr. Joan Francisco. The case made English legal history as it was the first time that a civil case of murder had been brought without there being any previous criminal proceedings.
